Sam Charlesworth
Singer, songwriter, poet, surfer and skater.
The 19-year-old singer-songwriter, who grew up on Auckland's North Shore, is studying music, te reo Māori, and marine science in Dunedin. With the gift of poetry and song, he records, produces and writes all his own music in his bedroom or makeshift recording studios with folk, punk, indie influences.
Filling his spare time with surfing, skating, photography or playing music by the ocean, his music is inspired by the world he sees around him. In the last 3 years Sam has released 4 albums and written and recorded over 70 songs.
Sam was a finalist in the 2020 New Zealand Peace Song awards and was a finalist in the Play it Strange 2020 Songwriting Competition from which he won a professional recording session for his piece PANiC.
